HOD Desk
Science means restless efforts and continually progressing development towards an aim. Learning of technical knowledge is not possible without the strong base of science. Science is an organized knowledge that keeps technology in some sort of order.
The department was established in 2010 with two under graduate programmes B.Sc. ZBC and B.Sc. PCM. Later on two more courses B.Sc. PSM and M.Sc. Mathematics were added in 2011. In 2012 the department started master’s degree in Zoology, Botany, Chemistry and Physics. Three more courses i.e. B.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Biotechnology and M.Sc. Microbiology were started by the department in the year 2013.
The department is highly devoted to creating the most supportive and academically interesting environment for the students. It helps the students in developing their competitiveness through value education and scientific ideas. A very friendly and pleasant atmosphere exists for nurturing a friendly and healthy teacher-student relationship.
The academic programs of this department are organized to meet the requirements of the fast growing technology. Department has separate labs for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students. All the laboratories for Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Microbiology are set up with all the essential equipments and internet facility.
As head of the department, I see our mission as providing the best education in the understanding of science. Thanks to the efforts of our teachers and our students too for making the conditions favourable for better learning.
I invite you all to visit our web pages. If you don't find what you're looking for or if you'd like any other additional information, please feel free to contact me. I will do my best to help you.
Best wishes,

Calculation of Merit Index for M Sc Admission: The following formula would be used for Admission to M Sc Classes.
I = X+2Y+2Z
Where
I=Merit Index
X=Marks obtained in Practicals at B Sc Level
Y=Marks obtained in theory at B Sc Level (This would include all the subjects taken at B Sc Level)
Z=total Marks obtained in theory at B Sc level in the Subject in which admission is sought at M Sc I class (Admission would be given in M Sc only in one of the subjects taken at the B Sc level).
Activities & Achievements
The students are prepared for interesting and rewarding careers by providing descriptive knowledge in different branches of science. The practical nature of different courses is reflected in the significant number of hours which students spend in modern, well-equipped laboratories. | |
Besides teaching courses in the subjects, faculty members of the department are engaged in the various research and extension activities dealing with different aspects of Biological Science, Physics Chemistry and Mathematics in general. The faculty members of the department have published about 06 books and more than 150 research papers/research articles in the high reputed research journals. |
|
One student, Mrs. Sonika of M.Sc. Zoology II Semester, has obtained first place with 80.4 percent marks in Kumaun University ranking. Other 4 students of the department have placed under 20 in the merit list of Kumaun University in different courses. |
